I am having such a hard time with MetCons these days. Walking quickly up stairs, single-unders, anything more intense than walking….problem. Weight-lifting and strict gymnastics movements – not a problem.

What this means:
– No Open this year
– Doctor’s appointment forthcoming. It’s one thing to know you have a respiratory illness. Quite another when things linger for a month +.

I’ve never been much of a cardio queen to start with, but there is something about what is going on that scares me a bit.
I’m hoping after the Dr’s appointment, the doc tells me I am a hypochondriac. (I think I hope that before EVERY doctor’s appointment. Sadly – it’s only ever happened once.)

There are 2 ways I can look at this situation:
– Use my current metcon limitations as an excuse to sit on the couch and eat Fritos (and this thought has crossed my mind on more than one occasion)
– Skirt the limitations altogether and work on improvements elsewhere.

Think I’ll go with the 2nd option until I’m either a) healed or b) figure out what the hell is going on.

Next week I start playing with Brian PCF’s Oly/Power/Gymnastics template. 4 months. Running may be the 1st thing to go in this template – but hope springs eternal. I still want to be faster than my slowest friend. Thank god my friends are slow.
